SEMA News

ARCA Racing West

The results from the SEMA trade show in Las Vegas NV are extremely positive and the sponsors are pleased to be involved with such a great series.

I have talked with Mac’s and they are still on board and very excited about the web broadcast for 2010 season. “ This series has came a along way in a few years and Mac’s Convenience Stores is very proud to be associated with ARCA West and its program” said Ron Thompson of Mac’s Convenience Stores.

We are also very pleased with the support of SUPERSEAL Construction Products and what they have done and very proud to announce that SUPERSEAL will continue to support the Mac’s Series in 2010 season. “ We are very excited about our product being associated with a national recognized brand of ARCA and their race programs, gives us a marketing venue in motorsports through out North America” said Ted Hubert from SUPERSEAL.

We are well on our way to a great 2010 season. The schedule is almost done and will be out as soon as one track confirms the dates we have picked. I will report after the next two shows that are in the first two weeks of December.

Thank You Richard Michaud ARCA West

ARCA West 2009 Champion Brian Johnson Jr SUPERSEAL #76

Brian Johnson Jr

In the overall standings Brian Johnson Jr (Sponored by SUPERSEAL Construction Products) won the 2009 ARCA West Macs series championship.
Before the race started Brian Johnson Jr, had dominated the the series to the point where all he needed was to finish in the 12 to ensure he would win the season championship. taking it easy isn't Brian Johnson Jrs style as he edged out teammate Ron Dexter in the SUPERSEAL #72 for the pole position and almost broke the track record in the process, a track record that Brian Johnson Jr holds.
With Brian Johnson Jr in the pole position, challanger Brian Levant qualified 4th. Half way through the race it seemed Brian Johnson Jr had all but wrapped up the Championship, that is until the caution flag flew.
On the ensuing green flag, Brian Johnson Jr stepped on the gas and everybody in the stands could hear the rear end of the car break. Brian Johnson Jr pitted and the team frantically tryed in vain to get the SUPERSEAL #76 car back on the track. Fortunately Brian Johnson Jr had earned enough points by winning the pole position and leading for the most leaps to win the 2009 ARCA West Championship.

The winners of the September 12 ARCA West SUPERSEAL 150 Race in Saskatoon SK
1st # 72 Ron Dexter
2nd # 17 Trevor Emond
3rd # 55 Jim Gaunt

The ARCA West SUPERSEAL 150 started with CCI Motorsports, cars #76 Brian Johnson Jr. from Machensey Park Illinois on the pole and #72 Ron Dexter on the outside. The second row was made up of #6c Chris Skelton and #49 Brian Levant. From the start it looked like this was going to be just like every other ARCA West Mac’s Series race this year as Johnson bolted away from the pack and opened up a sizeable lead. Within just a few laps he was starting to pass cars and put them a lap down. The only time cars got close to him was during the first caution at lap 50, but he was away from the field again when the green flag flew.

Suddenly in lap 78 the race changed. Johnson was off the pace and by lap 80 he pulled the #76 into the pits. The differential had given up and Johnson was finished for the night. Late in the race a battle ensued between the #72 CCI Motorsports car driven by Ron Dexter of Selah Washington and the #17 Trevor Emond from Leduc Alberta. Trevor Emond was the 2008 ARCA West Macs series champion, but this was his first race in the series in 2009. In the end, Ron Dexter brought the #72 CCI Motorsports Monte Carlo to the finish line first, picking up the beautiful SUPERSEAL 150 trophy made by Creative Glass of Saskatoon. Trevor Emond was second in the #17 Pontiac Grand Prix. Saskatoons Jim Gaunt picked up third in his #55x Ford Fusion.

After reviewing all the facts and contacting the manufacture we have found that CCI Motorsports, Brian Johnson Jr., and SUPERSEAL did not willfully attempt or intend to circumvent the official rules. This carburetor has a known manufacturing flaw in the center section by the manufacture and the carburetor assembler and was not meant to be used as a 650 CFM HP-10 carburetor. All other parts of the carburetor are correct to the specification of the 650 CFM HP-10. This flaw provides no advantage in any way. Brian Johnson Jr goes wire to wire in the SUPERSEAL 150 in Medicine Hat Alberta.

There was a great crowd on hand to watch the ARCA Macs Super Late Model race. The action was intense as the caution flags flew.
It was the Brian and Brian show as the 76 and 49 battled there way around the track until Brian Levant spun out and hit the wall. Brian Levant was able to get back on track with repairs but finished positions down. This opened up an opportunity for the 11 car to challenge the 76 which made for some great racing. Brian Johnson Jr in the 76 was able to hold of Greg Funk in the 11 and take the checkered flag.
